A research report first published on 11th November 2021 by Royal Society Chemistry says that an andrographolide sulfonates preparation, named Xiyanping injection in Chinese, which was prepared from the aqueous extract of Andrographis paniculata, showed favorable therapeutic effectiveness on COVID-19, suggesting Andrographis paniculata could contain powerful therapeutic ingredients against COVID-19.

Крајем августа 2020, Тхе Натион Тхаиланд је известио да је нижа доза андрографиса показала користи у прелиминарном испитивању, посебно за кашаљ. У року од три дана, и волумен кашља и укупна тежина симптома су се наводно значајно смањили. После пет дана, остали симптоми су се побољшали, а-тестови полимеразне ланчане реакције (ПЦР) у реалном времену били су негативни на вирус ЦОВИД-19 код два пацијента. После три недеље, ПЦР тестови у реалном времену били су негативни код свих шест испитаника. Крајем децембра 2020, влада Тајланда је одобрила пилот студију о употреби јужноазијске биљке андрографис за лечење раних симптома и смањење озбиљности ЦОВИД-19.
